Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (hereinafter - CPCB) has completed a political party's election 9.Saeimas country. 9.Saeimas and 2006 elections were very important political organizations (parties) in ensuring the legality of financial activities.

On the one hand the people have committed a democratic choice, and agreed on the adoption of a legislative framework that provides for strict restrictions on the financing of political parties and the responsibility for these infringements. On the other hand KNAB has the obligation to monitor whether the parties have been the actual conduct appropriate legal requirements. Political organizations (parties), the funding of statutory restrictions aimed at providing opportunities for the parties agreed to the conditions for the implementation of the campaign and will influence voters. Parliamentary democracy is the system to obey the law provides a legitimate expectation that all parties have equal opportunities and do not derive any benefits that are not available to others.

The inspection has found that several political parties have failed to meet legal requirements. Major irregularities found:

Upon completion of testing in connection with the observance of the legality of the 2006 parliamentary elections, KNAB give an overview of the irregularities detected and measures taken to overcome them. Of the 19 parties and associations, which participated in parliamentary elections in 2006:

• 7 Party held administrative responsibility for the political party funding rules violation, including 5 lots - even on election expenditure size restrictions for non-imposing fines on a total of 12 650 lats;
• 5 that the lot or associations exceeded election expense limits for a total of 941 492.32 lats;
• have concluded that the declarations submitted by parties not specified in the election campaign-related spending of 1 130 170.49 lats.

Eight political parties in the election's revenue and expenditure statement to the information referred to a finding of non statutory requirements.
